‘Perikope’, the debut full length effort from Max Fotheringham, marks a second and more elaborate bedroom solo project from the formally Brussels based musician. Written and recorded throughout 2013, 'Perikope' presents ten tracks from a year long journey across vast land and through hearts and minds. The record echoes its 2011 predecessor EP ‘In All Amber’ while delivering a more refined and fleshed-out sound that ventures into more plugged-in and ambient places, establishing an evolution with open windows and plenty of space to breathe.
From the restlessness where ‘In All Amber’ left off emerges a record of travel and a road leading east; a document of a journey's epoch and aftermath through a chronology of episodes from pre-departure anticipation to the looming horizon of home and the notion of altered being. Drawn from the transits and the stops, the impressions - both literal and figurative - were formed, and in the closing months of epilogue, shaped and refined in the peaceful solitude of Belgian Winter.
Upon finishing recording, Max Fotheringham has shifted base of operations to Melbourne, Australia and teamed up with a band of talented musicians to form Amber Isles, the live adaptation of both 'Perikope' and 'In All Amber', and an expansion for future material from both the songwriter and new band members.
Engineered by Wouter Gordts, cover art by Dabin Lee.
